Trezor.io/Start — Secure Crypto Setup Guide
Official step-by-step onboarding for Trezor hardware wallets. Learn how to initialize, secure, and use your device safely.
1. Connect & Initialize
Follow these steps to begin. Always use the official setup portal: https://trezor.io/start.
- Unbox your Trezor Model One or Model T and connect it via USB.
- Visit Trezor.io/Start to detect your device.
- If prompted, install the latest firmware through the official flow. Never install firmware from unofficial sources.
2. Create Your Recovery Seed
Most important step: generate and securely store your recovery seed (12 or 24 words).
- Write the words on paper — do not take photos or store them digitally.
- Keep the paper in a safe, offline location (consider multiple secure copies).
- A recovery seed is the only way to restore access to your funds if your device is lost or broken.
3. Install & Use Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official desktop/web app to manage your accounts and perform secure operations.
- Download from suite.trezor.io.
- Use Suite to send/receive crypto, manage accounts, and interact with dApps.
4. Security Best Practices
- Set a strong PIN for your Trezor device.
- Enable an optional passphrase for an extra layer of protection.
- Keep firmware updated via official channels.
- Do not enter your recovery seed into any computer or phone.
5. After Setup — What You Can Do
Once initialized, your Trezor allows you to:
- Send and receive supported cryptocurrencies.
- View balances and transactions securely.
- Connect to decentralized applications (dApps) through supported integrations.
Warning: Beware of phishing websites. Always verify the URL and never share your recovery seed.
